Apple Launches the MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 Series

Must Read

Apple has launched the MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 series to provide on-the-go wireless charging. The battery pack attaches itself to the back of the iPhone to provide an additional battery life. As of now, the MagSafe Battery Pack supports only the iPhones from the iPhone 12 series.

This battery pack does not come with a Lightning connector but rather carries magnets. The battery pack starts charging once it is attached to the back of the iPhone; in other words, the users need not press a button to turn it on. The MagSafe Battery Pack can provide up to 5W of power; however, using a power adapter with a higher power than a 20W can push the fast charging ability to up to 15W. Apple would not provide the power adapter for free alongside the battery pack.

When charging, the battery pack will show an amber status, and once fully charged it will show a green status light. The lock screen will show the charging status when the battery pack is attached to the phone. Apple has not provided any details as to how much additional battery life one would get from the battery pack. But nonetheless, one of the images of the battery pack available on the Apple site shows that it has a 1,460mAh (7.62V, 11.13Wh) battery. This is enough to give plenty of extra usage hours on iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12. The MagSafe Battery Pack may also be able to charge accessories such as AirPods.

The Apple MagSafe Battery Pack is priced at USD 99 which is approximately INR 10,900. The battery pack is currently available in the US, and it will go on sale starting July 19, 2021. The Apple India online store has also listed the battery pack on its website suggesting that it will soon be available in India.
