Following the recent deployment of the iOS 17.2.1 update, a significant number of iPhone users, particularly those with iPhone 15 models, are facing dissatisfaction due to Face ID malfunctions, specifically within the App Store.

Face ID Not Working for App Store

One frustrated iPhone 15 user, @akshit115, voiced concerns about Face ID not functioning in the app store despite multiple troubleshooting attempts, saying the absence of the double click option compounded the issue, with an install button requiring manual selection.

“iPhone 15 running iOS 17.2.1. Face ID is not working in the app store and I have to manually enter my password. I also do not get the “double click” option, but rather, there is an “install button” that I must select. I’ve toggled the app store on and off in the face ID section in settings. I’ve restarted the phone. I’ve reset the accessibility features for the double click. Still won’t work in the app store. Face ID appears to be working everywhere else.”

@Dreamer2383 shared similar struggles, observing peculiar behavior in the toggle switch for Face ID settings. Meanwhile, @GingerBeard777 revealed a frustrating experience with Apple support, spending three hours attempting different solutions, including a full reset with no backup restore. Despite exhaustive efforts, the issue remained unresolved, prompting a visit to the Apple Store.

Users Discovered Solutions But Not Working for All

Amid the dissatisfaction, some users discovered solutions. @Draecar14 successfully resolved the issue by temporarily turning off all Face ID features, resetting Face ID, and re-enabling the deactivated features. Similarly, @GGAimiee found success by signing out and signing back into the Apple account under Media & Purchases.

While these solutions proved effective for some, others like @Nat2856 reported continued issues despite trying multiple approaches. However, @James784 shared a unique solution involving a comprehensive reset of Face ID settings, signing out of the Apple ID, and adjusting security settings in Apple ID and Media & Purchases.

The dissatisfaction among iPhone users regarding Face ID malfunctions in the App Store post-iOS 17.2.1 update is evident. While some have found solace in user-discovered solutions, a portion of the affected users remains without a remedy. Apple has yet to address these issues comprehensively, leaving users to explore various troubleshooting methods.
