A few online sources have claimed that the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 12 series sometime next month. Before the news of its launch became official, a popular leakster revealed that the company might also launch a new smartphone called the Xiaomi 12X.
The tipster spotted the Xiaomi 12X in an IMEI database listing where the smartphone bears the codename “psyche” and the model number 2112123AG. Some think that the ‘G’ in its model number perhaps refers to “global” which means that the smartphone is likely to be launched in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. What is interesting about the leak reveal is that the tipster specifically mentioned that the rumored Xiaomi 12X is not coming to India.
Details about the smartphone have also surfaced. Under the hood, the Xiaomi 12X is supposed to come with the Snapdragon 870 processor, and it will feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen and the sampling touch rate of the display is clocked at 120Hz. The back of the smartphone features a 50MP main camera.
The rumored features of the Xiaomi 12X sound very similar to that of the Xiaomi 11X that features a Snapdragon 870 processor with a 120Hz FHD+ OLED display; however, the rear side of the smartphone features a 48 MP main shooter. The existence of a 50MP camera on the Xiaomi 12X points to the smartphone being a flagship-level smartphone, rather than a budget-tier one.
The display screen of the smartphone measures 145.4 x 65.4 mm which is smaller than a typical Xiaomi flagship smartphone. Hopefully, the bezels on the smartphone would not take up too much space, rendering the screen size too small.
Xiaomi has not revealed anything officially about the smartphone, and as such the pricing of the same still remains a mystery, but the presence of the Snapdragon 870 could mean that the smartphone would be priced below the usual Xiaomi flagship levels.
