Back in April 2021, Xiaomi released its first foldable smartphone, the Mi Mix Fold. The foldable smartphone comes with an 8.01-inch AMOLED display and another 6.52-inch screen when folded. Now, with the year markup, it seems that the Chinese mobile giant is about to unveil the second album – the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

The new foldable smartphone is coming sooner than expected, as it was revealed that the device would be official in the next two days, August 11, this week. Ahead of the official announcement, several mobile video chips have been rendered online, revealing their full design and specifications.

According to the mobile giant, the new Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 uses a micro-droplet-shaped hinge that it independently created after 651 days. It offers a narrower radius of the micro-droplets, a lower hinge width, and a thinner and lighter shape thanks to an inventive integrated lightweight design. Practical knowledge is also referred to as breaking the last technical obstacle of heavy folding.

However, on its part, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, added that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2’s technological advancement on the hinge this time delivers a thin and light experience of folding screen mobile phones. Meanwhile, the firm noted that the new foldable smartphone would be released at Lei Jun’s annual speech on August 11. Now let’s take a tour of some of the specifications.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 Specs

As per reports, a 1,080 x 2,520px resolution verifies the phone’s cover display’s expected 21:9 aspect ratio. The original Mi Mix Fold cover display featured a slim 27:9 ratio as a point of comparison. Additionally, the previous display’s refresh rate was 90Hz, whilst the new one will reach 120Hz.

This ought to imply that the interior display will have an aspect ratio of 10.3:9 instead of 4:3 like on its predecessor. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage will power the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and will be assisted by a 56W quick charging.

On the other hand, the renowned leaker Ice Universe has tweeted a new image of a device that, with its Galaxy Z Fold-like proportions, could easily be mistaken for Xiaomi’s inaugural flexible Mix variant. Anyway, it is authorized as the Mix Fold 2, so it can once more ship with a secondary display that is only marginally useful.

A potentially annoying punch-hole selfie camera is only shown on that cover screen, which is a consoling development. However, in terms of pricing, IceUniverse also now warns aspiring Mix Fold 2 owners to stay realistic about how much they may need to pay for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered device.

In all, it could not be the only new Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold 2 that will be unveiled this week, August 11, as another smartphone, the Xiaomi K50S Pro, the company’s first device with a 200MP camera, has also been spotted in different leaks.
