Finally, the long-anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has been officially announced by Qualcomm at the ongoing Snapdragon Summit. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 succeeded the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and comes with some exciting features that enhance users’ experience ranging from Dynamic Spatial Audio, support for 48kHz lossless music streaming through Bluetooth LE and latency at 48ms for gamers.

The newest chipset is said to be a new dawn in the mobile industry as most brands are eyeing the chip to be featured first on their devices. Meanwhile, reports revealed that the chip was developed in partnership with Asus, Honor, Motorola, OnePlus, Sony, and Xiaomi. And the chip will be featured in some of the key flagship smartphones coming in 2023, particularly the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.

While analyzing the rumours, we found Xiaomi’s CEO tweeted via its official Twitter page affirming that Xiaomi’s next flagship phone is among the first to be powered with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform.

On the other hand, several tweets from some popular, reliable tipsters also confirmed the list of first smartphones launching with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. The following is the list of the first smartphones launching with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as confirmed by the tipster:

  • Xiaomi 13 series
  • Oppo Find X6 series
  • Motorola X40
  • OnePlus 11
  • Vivo X90 Pro+
  • iQOO 11 series.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

With a primary 3.2GHz core, four 2.8GHz performance cores, and three 2GHz efficiency cores, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a 4nm platform. According to Qualcomm, the next chip is up to 40% more power-efficient and up to 35% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is said to be up to 25% quicker in terms of performance and 45% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The newest chipset also offers a wide range of features and functions, such as real-time semantic segmentation for photo and video capture, faster natural language processing with multi-language translation, and real-time hardware accelerated ray tracing. Additionally, it is the first Snapdragon to support the AV1 codec, which enables video playback at frame rates of up to 8K HDR. Additionally, it can simultaneously support two 5G SIM cards.
