Searching data in new way on Google by tappable shortcuts

Google Search Shortcuts

Whenever user has a query, user simply goes on Google and there fires the query. Query can be related to anything like information about new technologies, weather, and installing new software, buying online product, ticket booking, watching TV shows, and a lot more. Till date what we used to do is whenever we want some information from Google we used to spend time on typing the whole statement which was a real waste of time.

Now, again Google is helping users to complete their work with an ease by reorganizing mobile app and website to work with tappable shortcuts.

“Starting today, in the U.S., we’re introducing tappable shortcuts on the Google app for Android and iOS and Google.com on the mobile web that give you an easy access to access tools and the ability to explore deeper within topics you care about.”

Shortcuts for quick and easy access

There are many shortcuts available and they are categorized as entertainment or travel, etc. Following are the examples that include the usual search inquiries as well as some oddballs.

  • Weather
  • Translate
  • TV shows
  • News
  • Sports
  • Animal Sounds
  • Nearby ATM’s
  • Solitaire
  • Flip a coin
  • Tic Tac Toe
  • Do a barrel role
  • Emails
  • Book a hotel
  • Sunset time

There is nothing new here. Only the way to search any information on Google has changed. The main purpose of Google was to provide a search box for users to search any data. The company has agreed that there are better and efficient ways of accessing information you care about.

That has several implications. Firstly, it makes searching information on the go a bit faster. For example, I often check information about Sports and Emails. So now, you don’t have to type in Sports or scroll bar to search information. It literally saves your time.

Secondly, it makes information more discoverable. Over the years, Google has added too many features to keep track of. Sure you know Google can translate text o work as calculator, but did you know it can be used as a bubble level (on mobile). You will never search for such features unless you know them.

Lastly, Google’s biggest competitor Facebook is another greatest source of information. The things that we search on Google can also be accessed from Facebook. To gain attention of users Google keeps on experimenting new things to make users life easy as Facebook continues to grow. Therefore, Google cannot just rest and sit. The more easy and quick access Google provides; all the attention will be diverted from Facebook to Google.
