Despite the uncertain future on the Chinese group, Honor continues undaunted to present new mobile devices, this time in India, where two versions have been made official, quite different from each other, of the same Honor Pad 5 tablet.

On a day when Xiaomi’s announcements were made, with gadgets and devices of all sorts including the Amazfit Verge 2 and Health Watch smartwatches, in addition to the Mi Band 4 smart band, Honor certainly did not resign to a secondary role, holding an event in India for the local presentation of some well-known smartphones (Honor 20/20 Pro , Honor 20i): the occasion, however, proved to be favorable also to announce a pair of un-announced tablets known as Honor Pad 5.

The two Honor Pads 5 presented in India are a sort of “different twins” separated at birth, although united by various specifications, such as the FullHD resolution of the displays, the memory configurations (expandable on the storage side via microSD) with 3 + 64 and 4+ 64 GB Ram and ROM, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a pair of stereo speakers , and a baby mode available for babies.

The first model, Honor Pad 5 (8″), however, has an 8-inch display, opts for the Kirin 710 processor and enriches the graphics card (from a gaming perspective) with the Turbo 2.0 GPU, it allows to expand the storage up to another 512 GB, supports sound emission with Dolby Atmos tech, and includes 4G connectivity. The cameras are both 8-megapixel (auto-focus behind, fixed in front), although selfie camera takes care of managing the Face Unlock, given the lack of a fingerprint scanner. The operating system, Android Pie 9.0, is here based on customization OS, already seen on the Honor Magic 2 smartphone, Magic UI 2.0.

The second version of this tablet, the Honor Pad 5 (10.1″), has a larger display, 10.1 inches, but lacks in performance, entrusted to the Kirin 659 processor which, moreover, can count on a potential of smaller expandable storage (256 GB): the cameras are 8 megapixels behind, and 2 front, but on the other hand, security improves, thanks to the presence (front) of a traditional scanner for analyzing fingerprints.

This model for the passive use of multimedia contents, features Histen 5.0 optimization sound, by the tuning of the Harman Kardon audio technology. Finally, the operating system is still based on Android Pie 9.0 but covered by EMUI 8.0 customized OS.

For the availability of Honor Pad 5, it will be available from the month of July. The 8-inch base model with 3GB + 32GB configuration costs Rs 15,499 ($225 approx.) while the 4GB + 64GB configuration costs Rs 17,499 ($251). The same configuration in 10-inch size will cost about Rs 16,999 ($244) and Rs 18,999 ($275).
