The MWC mobile electronics exhibition will be held this February. Till now, Sony officially announced its scheduled event at the forum, and now LG has announced its arrival at the MWC 2019. This was done through the release of a teaser video, which announced that the company would hold a press conference on February 24.

LG has hinted at the release of a new smartphone, which can be controlled without touching the screen with your hands. According to the teaser posted on YouTube, the new feature will work similarly to the Air Gesture of the Samsung Galaxy S4, released in 2013.

The video shows how a hand, without touching a sheet of paper, reveals the words “Goodbye Touch and”, then gets away. We saw something similar in the Galaxy S4: gesturing in front of the display, users could switch tracks in the player, scroll up and down the page in the browser and answer the call.

For the operation of the gesture control system, the Galaxy S4 was responsible for infrared sensors. By comparing the IR light reflected from a hand into each of the sensors, the system could track the gesture without touching the screen. However, LG is sure to apply more advanced technology than Samsung in a six-year-old smartphone.

The company said that more news about the new development will be told at the press conference of LG Premiere, which will be held on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress 2019.

The function of touchless gestures will probably be involved in the flagship LG G8, which can be announced at the same event. It is expected to come with a main 6.1-inch display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a Snapdragon processor 855, a USB-C port, a 3.5-mm audio input for headphones and two main cameras. According to sources, the new model looks almost no different from its predecessor, but LG may try to lure customers with other innovations.
