Apple’s latest operating system, macOS Sonoma 14, was released with much anticipation and excitement among Mac users. However, a growing number of users have reported issues with the Safari web browser, leading to frustration and inconvenience. Complaints about Safari freezing, crashing, or not functioning as expected have been pouring in, sparking concerns in the Mac community.

One of the most common problems macOS Sonoma 14 users reported is Safari unexpectedly freezing or crashing during regular web browsing sessions. Users have expressed their discontent on various online forums and social media platforms, detailing their experiences of having to restart the browser frequently. These interruptions in workflow have caused frustration among many.

macOS Sonoma 14 Users Hit by Safari Woes

A user with a 24-inch M1, 2021, who experiences freezing and crashing issues when performing various tasks, such as attempting to save documents or playing large videos in QuickTime, lamented thus:

“How do I get rid of Sonoma 14? A nightmare. I have an iMac that’s less than 2 years old. I spend most of my time rebooting. (It took half an hour to get this page to load.) Facebook is inoperable without rebooting every five minutes. This is the worst upgrade ever! When will Apple “remember” that some people buy their computers and do not have iPhones? It seems like all upgrades are for iPhones only. Well, a $4,000+ tax computer from Apple should get some support, too, I think.”

Additionally, aside from the Safari-related woes, users are encountering Bluetooth issues. There are reports of Bluetooth on macOS Sonoma automatically turning on and off, causing disruptions and inconvenience for users. Another user who also encountered a similar issue said her Sonoma was crashing frequently. In her words:

“Sonoma keeps crashing frequently and randomly. I never had any such issue with Ventura. Issues started after installing Sonoma on my Mac Book Pro (Apple M1 Max, 16-inch). It is clearly a buggy OS, but all apps are up-to-date. Don’t point at apps, please. It’s a Sonoma problem.”

As of press time, Apple has not responded to the issues. However, a report by Piunikaweb recommended some suggestions for macOS Sonoma 14 users who are experiencing freezing and crashing. Among them are updating Safari and macOS, clearing Safari cache, checking Safari extensions, resetting Safari settings, and restarting Mac.

For Bluetooth troubleshooting, it is suggested that you turn off the Bluetooth, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
