In a bid to embrace the growing artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, the world’s leading semiconductor company, MediaTek, has laid out its plans for the United States, emphasizing a strategic shift towards edge AI for the next five years in the United States.

Cai Lixing, MediaTek’s Vice Chairman and CEO, disclosed this to local industry analysts and media in his opening speech, attributed MediaTek’s current status to five years of active investment, and outlined the company’s trajectory in the evolving landscape of AI. Over the past five years, MediaTek has achieved remarkable results, propelling its revenue to an impressive $14 billion. Profitability has consistently expanded, with approximately $13 billion returned to shareholders as cash dividends.

An equally substantial $18 billion investment in technology research and development from 2018 to 2023 has solidified the company’s strategy, which involves not only expanding existing product lines but also fostering partnerships with first-tier global customers. Investing in AI Ecosystem and Connectivity  Recognizing the importance of efficient data transmission for AI ecosystems, MediaTek has announced investments in mobile communications, wireless networks, and satellite communications. Cai Lixing highlighted the company’s commitment to creating technical value for customers in emerging needs and application scenarios.

He further underscored MediaTek’s status as one of the few edge AI companies capable of supporting various major devices, with an annual shipment of approximately 2 billion terminal devices. The company’s core technologies, including SerDes and Deep Learning Accelerator (DLA), position it as an AI enabler, facilitating cross-platform solutions encompassing edge, cloud, and hybrid AI.  Strategic Partnership for Smart Connected Cars

In a major development, Cai Lixing said MediaTek has announced a collaboration with Huida on smart cockpit solutions, aiming to design the next generation of smart connected cars. This venture aligns with MediaTek’s commitment to bolster its Dimensity Auto automotive platform, providing customers with a comprehensive and enhanced smart driving experience. Looking ahead, MediaTek pledges to sustain its commitment to technology leadership and innovation.

The company aims to deepen existing partnerships while expanding its footprint, ensuring customers have access to cutting-edge solutions through a comprehensive IP and technology portfolio.
