In a surprising turn of events, Xiaomi has reportedly announced that the MIUI 14 will be the last official version of its popular mobile operating system, MIUI. The company is set to make way for a new era as MIOS takes over the reins, signaling a significant shift in Xiaomi’s software strategy.

Tipster Mukul Sharma broke the news in a recent tweet, stating, “MIUI 14 is expected to be the last official major version of MIUI. After this, Xiaomi’s new Mios (.cn) is expected to take over.” Digital blogger @digitalchat.com also affirmed the development via Weibo, saying “It is basically confirmed that MIUI 14 will be the last official major version of MIUI.”

The digital blogger further added in its post that, as MIUI’s sealed work, MIUI 14 can be regarded as an excellent “graduation project.”

MIUI has been the cornerstone of Xiaomi’s smartphones for years, praised for its feature-rich interface and customization options. However, Xiaomi’s decision to discontinue MIUI updates comes as a shock to many loyal users. This move aligns with Xiaomi’s evolving vision for its software ecosystem and a desire to streamline its offerings.

Waiting for MIOS

Previously, a page picture of the latest version of Xiaomi MIOS appeared on the Internet. There is an MIOS V1.01.145 Dev Beta version. If this image is accurate, Xiaomi MIOS has advanced to a new level of development. According to rumors, Xiaomi’s independently created MIOS operating system would support its vehicles and mobile devices. In a manner comparable to Hongmeng’s entire platform coverage, it may also be used on mobile phones and IoT devices.

Currently, there are not many revelations about MIOS on the Internet, but the blogger previously said: “The new mobile phones and new systems of the grain factory are all interesting, and some new technologies that were originally planned for next year have been arranged in advance. Q4 has big moves one after another.” The Xiaomi Mi 14 series, which may be launched at the end of October, will reportedly be released ahead of Double Eleven.
