Considering the era of rapid technological advancements, the boundaries between devices are constantly being pushed and redefined. Xiaomi’s latest device, the Mix Fold 3, is a dramatic example of how innovation may close the gap between smartphones and tablets, serving as a testament to this evolution.

The Mix Fold 3 not only challenges the limits of what we already know but also ushers in a new age in personal technology with its foldable design, potent capabilities, and promise of increased user experiences. Now, let’s take a look at how the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is bridging the gap between smartphones and tablets.

Bridging the Gap Between Smartphones and Tablets

Earlier this week, Xiaomi officially unveiled the device, the Mix Fold 3, in its home country. The folding mechanism allows it to transition effortlessly from a smartphone-sized form factor to a tablet-sized screen, expanding the possibilities of how we interact with our devices.

A recent tweet from Daniel Desjarlais @Daniel_in_HD gives us the first look at the new Xiaomi device with its ability to adapt to different usage scenarios. This adaptability effectively bridges the gap between devices, eliminating the need to carry both a smartphone and a tablet separately.

The Mix Fold 3’s folding design is similar to its competitors, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google Pixel Fold, which are already on the market. However, the proprietory ”Micro Waterdrop hinge” in the device allows for a smooth folding mechanism and contributes to its slim and lightweight design.

One of the distinctive features of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is its slim design. When folded, it measures just 10.86mm thick, and when unfolded, it is only 5.26mm thick. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 13.4mm when folded, and the Pixel Fold measures 12.1mm.

In its folded state, it offers the convenience and portability of a smartphone, fitting comfortably in one hand and allowing for quick and easy communication. When unfolded, it transforms into a tablet-sized screen, offering a larger canvas for productivity, entertainment, and creative endeavors.

Compared to its rivals, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 delivers a distinctive user experience. It has a bigger body, which causes the cover to be wider, and both an 8.0-inch and a 6.56-inch AMOLED display. Both screens feature a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and use Samsung’s E6 panel.

A 50-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 10-megapixel periscope lens are all included on the rear panel. Thanks to cooperation with Leica. On the cover screen, there is a 20-megapixel selfie camera as well.

Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and a 4,800mAh battery power the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. Both 50W wireless charging and 67W wired fast charging are supported by the battery. NFC, MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13, and 5G connections are further noteworthy features of the device.

Availability and Pricing

As confirmed by the brand, the new Mix Fold 3 will not be launched outside of China, but favorite users can get it around the world. For instance, in India, it is available from retailers like Giztop right now. The device is available in Moon Shadow Black and Xingyao Gold color variants.
