Xiaomi Vice President and Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing have teased the debut of a new Redmi smartphone blessed with “super-performance”. The Chinese tech giant also launched a teaser on Weibo.
The netizens are taking a shot at guessing as to what Xiaomi’s next product will be. The best guess is that the company is preparing to launch a new 5G Redmi smartphone that would come equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity SoC under its hood. The executive of the company had also mentioned that Xiaomi has a plethora of surprises and that they were working on manufacturing a new affordable smartphone. This could be the Redmi 9.
Lu Weibing had also shared MediaTek’s post on Weibo that announced that MediaTek would host an event on May 18 to reveal the new chip that is specially made with a focus on 5G technology.
Now if we are to follow Redmi’s announcement and the leaks that got posted online, the sub-brand of Xiaomi is working on a new phone with model number M2004J7AC.
Redmi’s upcoming mysterious smartphone runs on an octa-core CPU and features a 6.57-inch full-HD+ (1080×2400 pixels) OLED display. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It was thought that it would be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC; however, the recent post made on behalf of the chip-making company suggests that a different Dimensity SoC would feature in the upcoming Redmi smartphone.
The Redmi smartphone is perhaps among the many surprises that Lu Weibing mentioned as part of Xiaomi’s upcoming launch event. Furthermore, Redmi is also expected to unveil the Redmi 9 as its new affordable smartphone.
Obviously, neither Weibing nor Xiaomi has confirmed the news or denied the rumors. However, since the latest teaser introduces its customers to the new smartphone, details will soon follow.
