In a bid to enhance user experience with outstanding connectivity, Sony has announced today that its Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V smartphones now support Wi-Fi 6E, marking a significant leap in wireless connectivity. This development aims to uphold the seamless user experience with enhanced performance and faster data transmission capabilities.

Sony launched the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V smartphones in May and September this year, respectively. The duo smartphones come with advanced cutting-edge features and position themselves as a top-of-the-line flagship phone with all sorts of bells and whistles, allowing them to compete with the best phones in the world.

Although at the time of launch, the smartphones supported Wi-Fi 802.11 connectivity, to enhance user connectivity experience, Sony is now bringing an IEEE standard wireless local-area network – the Wi-Fi 6E to the devices. The connectivity, also known as high-efficiency Wi-Fi, is an overall improvement to previous wireless local-area networks in dense environments.

Wi-Fi 6E: Elevating Connectivity to New Heights

Building upon the foundations laid by Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E extends its prowess into the 6GHz band, promising greater bandwidth, increased speed, and reduced latency. These improvements contribute substantially to elevating the overall quality of streaming videos and facilitating swift mobile gaming experiences.

According to the mobile brand, Xperia 1 V users can now harness the power of Wi-Fi 6E through a convenient software update, denoted by software version 67.1.A.2.194. This update ensures that Xperia 1 V users can seamlessly access the benefits of Wi-Fi 6E, enhancing their connectivity experience.

Meanwhile, Xperia 5 V users can join the Wi-Fi 6E bandwagon by upgrading to Android 14, accompanied by software version 67.1.A.2.194. This synchronization update aligns Xperia 5 V with the latest wireless technology, promising users an improved and efficient connectivity experience.

Beyond connectivity, both Xperia models boast Sony’s exclusive dual-layer architecture CMOS sensor, known as Exmor T for mobile. These smartphones inherit advanced camera technologies from the Sony Group, featuring the S-Cinetone cinematic photography mode, 6 Creative Looks, and a bokeh mode comparable to that of a single eye.

Enhancing the multimedia capabilities of Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V is the Video Creator, supporting video output of up to 4K quality. With the integration of Wi-Fi 6E, users can now seamlessly transfer large files and engage in high-quality communication with family and friends, taking full advantage of the ultra-fast network speeds. Sony’s decision to integrate Wi-Fi 6E into Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V signifies a commitment to providing users with cutting-edge technology.
