Last April, Vivo unveiled its first-generation foldable phone – the Vivo X Fold. The foldable smartphone competes with the Samsung Galaxy Fold as it comes with some impressive features like an in-display fingerprint scanner, fuelled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and ships with Android 12.

As it is getting close to a year now, the Chinese brand is gearing up to unveil its next foldable phone called the Vivo X Fold 2. A successor to the Vivo X Fold. As per the report, the device is likely to launch in April this year. 

However, ahead of the launch date, a tipster has revealed the design of the upcoming foldable phone as well as the configuration, battery, and charging capabilities. The leaker confirmed the device to come from China’s traditional culture of oriental artistic concepts.

Vivo X Fold 2 Design

Mukul Sharma, who broke the news via its Twitter page, pointed out that the Vivo X Fold 2 seems to be announced in April. In the attached image text the phone is said to be a ” mobile phone, made its world premiere at Boao Forum for Asia.

“Boao Forum for Asia is a high-level dialogue platform with world influence. We hope to show the world the extraordinary innovation power of China’s science and technology and China’s design through Boao. [All-round and light] vivo X Fold2 not only has an all-round flagship configuration but also has a light and thin flagship feel, which is the most powerful folding screen of vivo so far,” the text read.

In terms of design, Vivo X Fold2 is ingenious, with the classic image of China’s traditional culture [heaven and earth, two instruments and everything], demonstrating the perfect integration of oriental artistic conception and modern science and technology.

Vivo X Fold 2 Excepted Specs

On the other hand, last week, tipster Digital Chat Station leaked information on the Vivo X Fold 2 battery and charging capabilities. According to the leaker, the device will have a 4,800mAh dual-cell battery and support 120W fast charging. Like the predecessor model, the  X Fold 2 may offer 50W wireless charging. 

Meanwhile, a new report by Gizchina confirmed the Vivo X Fold 2’s foldable screen will offer a 2K resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The screen may be about 8 inches wide. The cover display as well as the inner screen are expected to come equipped with ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanners.

The Vivo X Fold 2 is expected to debut as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset-powered foldable smartphone. The SoC will be coupled with 16 GB of RAM. Likewise, the highest variant of the device may likely offer 512 GB or 1 TB of native storage.

In the camera setup, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 primary camera with OIS support. It will be coupled with a pair of 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 sensors for ultra-wide and telephoto shots. It may come preloaded with Android 13 OS and OriginOS 3.0.
