Xiaomi has made a mark in the global smartphone market by outclassing brands like Samsung and Applen in the Russian market and creating dominance over there. As per the report, Xiaomi has a share of around 30.6 percent in the Russian market. Apart from that, another Chinese smartphone-producing brand, Realme, acquired around 13 percent of the Russian smartphone market.

The Chinese brands held around 65% shares of the Russian smartphone market, which increased to 70 percent in June 2022. The main highlight here is that at the beginning of the year, the same share was below 50 percent. This shows the level of growth these Chinese brands have achieved in the smartphone market of Russia.

The main reason behind the downfall of Apple and Samsung in the Russian market is they themselves. Both the companies announced that they are going to suspend the deliveries and official sales of their devices in Russia starting from March 2022.

Talking about the downfall based on the statistics, Samsung had a share of 33 percent which fell down to 18.5 percent in the second quarter. On the other hand, Apple’s share went down from 15.3% to 10.6%.

As compared to the second year of 2022, the sales of Apple fell by 49 percent and the sales of Samsung fell by 62%. collectively, the sale of smartphones in Russia decreased by 33 percent in comparison to the first quarter.

Keeping the geopolitical scenario in mind, we can say that the situation is not going to improve anytime soon in Russia until the war situation ends completely.

Even after that, it will be nothing less than a challenge for smartphone-producing brands like Apple and Samsung, to make dominance over the market by replacing Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Realme.

It would be interesting to see what changes in strategies will be operated by Samsung and Apple to regain dominance in the Russian market, or will they try to do the same or not.
