Casio Computer has expanded its range of Pro Trek smartwatches with the WSD-F21HR. The new model is water-resistant to a depth of 50 meters and meets the military standards of the United States, making it an ideal smartwatch for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you like mountain climbing, outdoor trekking or diving, you can take this watch with you without any problems.

The new Casio watch is also equipped with a heart rate sensor, a handy function that can also be found in the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, which was introduced last month. A watch with a heart rate monitor gives the user the possibility to monitor his heart rate in real-time and, where necessary, to adjust the pace during running, trail running or cycling. The sports watch also offers support for offline color cards, useful for athletes who like to go on an adventure and want to look up the unknown.
Thanks to the new functions of the Casio WSD-F21HR, wearers are constantly informed of their physical condition. Various Running and Trail Running menus have been added to the activity app of the smartwatch that shows live data. The user can choose which information the app displays – such as heart rate, speed or distance. Barometric pressure and an altitude transition graph are also measured.
Up to four screens can be set in advance, between which users can switch while walking or cycling. This way, the desired information is always available within a single tap.
Watch with heart rate monitor
The new Casio smartwatch also includes a new heart rate watch face. An optical sensor has been added that measures the heart rate, with a flashing LED light on the wrist. As soon as the Casio WSD-F21HR detects movement, the watch automatically switches to the new heart rate display thanks to the optical sensor.
By setting the maximum and resting heart rate, the current fitness and training results can be displayed on this screen in five levels. The target intensity can be checked on the heart rate zone screen so that the user can determine the ideal heart rate for the target workout or the current fitness level.
Like other Pro Trek Smart models, this Casio smartwatch is also suitable for Google App services, the ViewRanger trekking app, the BIKE MAP bike app, the STRAVA app and other outdoor sports apps that are compatible with Wear OS by Google. The Casio WSD-F21HR outdoor watch is available from September 2019 for a price of € 500.
More smartwatches are expected in the coming period. Apple will probably release the Apple Watch 5 tomorrow, and the Huawei Watch GT2 is also expected later this month. This will be the first watch from Huawei that runs on the new Harmony OS.
