The latest roll-out of the iOS 13 added a new feature to PUBG and Fortnite whereby a three-fingered long press brings up a toolbar. However, this has proved to be a hindrance and a nuisance to the players since the games need two fingers to play. Some players use three fingers in a ‘claw grip’ to play the games. Following some complaints, PUBG Mobile has acknowledged the issue. The three-finger toolbox should pop up when the players are tapped into a text box. If this is the case, the sudden pop-up may mean that it is a bug which has not been caught.

PUBG and Fortnite players are requested not to update to iOS 13. However, it seems highly unlikely that the iOS has not been upgraded to 13 en masse. As a contingency, Apple should issue a fix for this triple finger tap-and-hold gesture issue soon with the iOS 13.1 release next week. There comes a pop-up warning inside PUBG which reiterates the fact that the developers are aware of the issue.

The message reads, “We are aware of an issue for players upgrading to iOS 13.0, where touching the screen with 3 fingers will trigger an iOS function and interrupt the game. We have already raised the issue with Apple, and we will continue working with them to resolve the issue. We suggest players who play the game with 3 or more fingers do not upgrade to iOS 13.0 until the issue is resolved.”

Some beta users of the upcoming iOS 13.1 have acknowledged that this problem has been issued a fix. It is naturally presumed that the next update, the iOS 13.1 which is scheduled to launch on September 24 will have a fix to this problem in general. In fact, PUBG Mobile developers also tweeted asking the players to update to the beta iOS 13.1 to avoid having this problem further.
