Samsung Display has applied a trademark application with KIPRIS for the “UDR” name, but with no supplementary elucidation as to from what range to where it might presuppose.
If we don’t delve into the things which might entail on the “UDR,” we must straighten out our imagination at least a bit to see the peek look of UDR. We could partially take it as something to do with a new Dynamic range technology.
But as far as we discern it out, we might find a way to decrypt the whole thing. It can be understood easily if we focus on the thing it derives from. Similar to how “HDR” stands for “High Dynamic Range,” UDR could be short for “Ultra Dynamic Range.”
HDR is a display technology that enhances the process of the image’s contrast ratio between black and white levels. In a more detailed form, HDR Display provides a way enhanced image quality with more lucid contrast. Whenever the dynamic range reaches the peak, the closer to reality image will seemingly appear.
On the flip side, UDR could round off all the things put on top, while Samsung followed with the HDR. It could be Samsung’s revolutionary stride after HDR. As of now, nothing falls under the credible floor, and there is no wide-opened door to tell what exactly UDR means. However, it could be similar to HDR.

But the application was filed by Samsung Display, and the trademarked acronym gives a resemblance to HDR.
