A few key adjustments are included in the Valorant 5.01 update patch notes, including significant ones that enhance Phoenix’s skills and Smurf detection. While this update isn’t as substantial as those that coincide with the introduction of a new episode, it is still noteworthy.

The Phoenix’s Curveball skill is the primary priority of the developers, who have enhanced the flash time and shortened the windup. Minor adjustments have also been made to KAY/O and Yoru. The changes or adjustments in the Valorant 5.01 update are listed below.

Valorant 5.01 update patch notes

Changes to agents

Phoenix

Curveball (Q)

The runtime of Flash Max was extended from 1.1 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
Flash Windup was lowered to 0.5 seconds from 0.7 seconds.

Blaze (C)

If Phoenix stops bending his wall, he will now equip his weapon earlier.

Back it Up (X)

The number of shields Phoenix possessed when the ability was cast will now spawn with him at the marking.

Yoru

Drift Dimensional (X)

Ultimate’s duration has been increased from 10 to 12 seconds.
Time to unequip is decreased from 1.2 to 0.8 seconds.

KAY/O

FRAG/ment (C)

Zone diameter is lowered to eight meters from ten meters.
Now, damage may be dealt without a line of sight.

NULL/cmd (X)

In order to reflect the gameplay pattern of playing around ultimate orbs or hitting the bomb, only friends will now be able to hear the full channel audio of reviving KAY/O, while fallen enemies will only be able to hear a brief audio cue when the revive has attempted.

Smurf detection update

In an attempt to thwart smurfs from passing themselves off as beginners while matchmaking for low-rank players, Riot Games is developing a new method to identify smurfs and promote them towards where they belong in the rankings. The new smurf identification system will be tested in North America, according to the patch notes. It will eventually be made available to all servers.

Release date for Valorant 5.01 update

Although there hasn’t been a formal announcement, the 5.01 update is expected to go live on July 12. It should go without saying that these modifications will have an impact on the present agent meta.
