Sony has announced the PlayStation Stars loyalty program, which will begin later this year and provide gamers with various incentives and bonuses. With PlayStation Stars, gamers will receive points that can be redeemed on the PlayStation Store as well as a brand-new aspect known as digital collectibles.

There will be chances for all PlayStation Stars players to accumulate loyalty points. Points may be exchanged for various things, including PSN pocket money and certain PlayStation Store goods, from a catalog. Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers who have signed up for PlayStation Stars immediately receive points for purchases made through the PlayStation Store.

Sony’s statement in the announcement blog post for this loyalty program states, “We have been inspired by how significant gaming experiences can generate wonderful, lifetime memories for gamers throughout our company’s 27-year existence. We at PlayStation take great pride in developing unique goods and experiences that thrill our fans.”

The digital collectibles will be another form of reward for the gamers. Sony did affirm to The Washington Post that they are “absolutely not NFTs,” cannot be bought or sold, and therefore are not connected to anything involving the blockchain.

They are digital representations of items that PlayStation fans like, such as miniatures of popular and memorable figures from games and other forms of entertainment, along with valued gadgets that draw on Sony’s history of invention. There’ll always be a new collectible to acquire, an extra rare collectible to aspire for, or something unexpected to collect for fun.

During its launch later this year, PlayStation Stars will be open for free to all users. After joining, members may earn rewards by accomplishing a range of campaigns and tasks. While some programs demand players to participate in competitions, obtain particular trophies, or even be the first person to platinum a popular game in your time zone, the “Monthly Check-In” campaign only asks users to play any game in order to earn rewards.
