Microsoft now appears to be planning to implement a model similar to Netflix with its Xbox Game Pass. According to a recent survey, the business may launch a cheaper (reportedly $3) ad-supported Xbox Game Pass tier in 2023.
A specific post was discovered by Windows Central on the renowned gaming forum site ResetEra. A user posted a screenshot of a survey in Spanish that appears to have been distributed to certain Xbox customers in the post. In the survey, players were questioned about their opinions on new Xbox game pass tiers.
A family subscription and a plan that grants access to first-party games after six months were both mentioned by the user. Players can thus expect a new, less expensive Xbox Game Pass tier to launch soon. It may cost about $3 per month and offer players access to multiplayer and the whole collection of Xbox titles six months after their original release.
The new cheaper ad-supported tier of Xbox Game Pass may have significant downsides
Xbox presently offers consumers two subscription plans Xbox Game Pass Standard, which costs $10 per month and just contains the games, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs $15 per month and also covers other perks. At a considerably cheaper cost, consumers will receive almost all the advantages they currently enjoy with the monthly Xbox Game Pass tier.

The one odd about this model is that players will first have to suffer ads before they can begin playing the game of their choosing. A further disadvantage for some players, though, is that they will also have to wait six months before they can play the newly released games.
Xbox Game Pass hasn’t been performing all that well lately, despite being one of the largest distribution features of the Xbox platform. Its growth was said to have slowed down significantly in October, and it had fallen short of its annual target by around 48%. So, with an ad-supported Xbox Game Pass cheaper tier Microsoft might be intending to grow its user base.
