As part of its commitment to strengthening its technology industry, the American technology company Dell has revealed today its plans to launch Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS-certified XPS Plus 13 Developer Edition next month, August 2022.

According to the tech giant, the new XPS “Developer Edition” will be launched in some selected European markets like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and others, and immediately begins selling the XPS Plus 13 notebooks same month in the region mentioned

The laptop is powered by Intel’s latest 12th generation Core processor and can accommodate up to 32GB of 5200MHz LPDDR5 memory. In terms of storage, the notebook supports PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs and comes with a four-speaker array that supports up to 4K + OLED screens.

Additionally, the notebook has a stylish gridless keyboard design, capacitive touch function row, seamless glass touch panel, borderless interface design, and a very simple overall design.

Likewise, the notebook supports larger fans and improves airflow efficiency by 55% without increasing noise or temperature, thanks to Intel’s 12th Gen Core 28W processor (up to 15W on previous generations). And it has plenty of power, and Express Charge 2.0 technology can charge to 80 percent in 1 hour.

However, it should be noted that the new XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition Laptop is part of the commemoration of ten years of collaboration since Project Sputnik, Dell and Canonical partnered and also is the first OEM PC certified for Ubuntu 22.04.

According to the firm, there are a few options for getting your XPS 13 Plus and its “capacitive touch function row” set up with a hardware-optimized version of 22.04. One option is to order a new XPS 13 Plus laptop and wait for it to arrive in August. If you’re in a hurry, you can perform a fresh install and be ready to go. The final option is to wait until August 4th, when Ubuntu 22.04.1 will activate the upgrade path for all LTS users, allowing you to do as little work as possible.

Speaking on the new notebook, Jaewook Woo, Dell Product Manager for Linux Systems, explains that the XPS is a symbol of Dell’s innovation, from using cutting-edge technology to exploring new user interfaces and designs.

In his words: “The XPS is a hallmark of Dell’s innovation, from applying cutting-edge technology to experimenting with new user interfaces and designs. By delivering the enhanced performance and powerful features of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS To the highest-end notebooks, Dell and Canonical will work together to strengthen our shared commitment to providing the best computing experience for developers using Ubuntu.”
