Microsoft will finally release Microsoft Surface Earbuds this May. This will be an interesting addition to the already available earbuds in the market: Apple AirPods(Pro) and Samsung Galaxy buds. The Surface earbuds will be launched alongside the highly anticipated Surface tablets.

Price & Availability

As per the reports from European retail, the new Microsoft Surface Earbuds should hit the markets of multiple European countries from May 6, 2020. Microsoft is expected to keep it at a starting price of 199 euros. Thus, the Surface Earbuds will neatly slot in-between the pricier Apple AirPods(Pro) and the less-expensive Samsung Galaxy buds.

The Microsoft Surface Earbuds are completely wireless in-ear headphones. Connectivity is enabled through Bluetooth version 4.2. The more recent Bluetooth 5.x is not yet included. It can connect with the Surface devices via the “Swift Pair” feature aided by a single click.

Design and features

Moving on to its design, the in-ear design securely fits for a comfortable all-day usage. The new Microsoft headphones are very light and weigh a mere 7.2 grams each. The charging case weighs 40 grams. The outer part of the earbud has plate shaped design on which Microsoft has incorporated various functions enabled via touch gestures.

You can swipe to skip Spotify, or double tap to answer a call. Microsoft Surface Earbuds are integrated with Office 365. It supports Office dictation. You can also change PowerPoint slides by tapping it.

The Microsoft Surface Earbuds give a clear and a noise-free call experience Each earbud has a speaker with a diameter of 13.6 mm. They actively suppress ambient noise using a series of microphones.

We don’t have detailed information about the capacity of the integrated batteries, but they can provide a runtime of up to eight hours on a single charge. The charging case is supposed to have enough energy-capacity to charge the wireless headphones two more times. This gives a total runtime of 24 hours.
