Nintendo won a lawsuit of $2 million against a website that was selling Nintendo Switch hacks.

Piracy is something that all gaming companies deal with constantly. Whenever a new console is released, the hackers always come up with ways to pirate its software. The hackers sell the pirated software anonymously so as to avoid legal consequences.

Nintendo’s latest legal suit against piracy is leveled against the retailed Uberchips which was selling a hack that allowed the piracy of Nintendo Switch games. As per the agreement, the retailer will have to destroy any digital files or physical devices that infringe upon any of Nintendo’s copyrights and pay the enormous fine. A judge has yet to sign the agreements, but according to reports, both parties have accepted the terms.

Nintendo is engaged in similar legal battles against similar retailers, which are all a part of Team-Xecuter. Nintendo was only aware of the Uberchips retailer from the Team-Xecuter. Nintendo is yet to unearth the other eight sites related to Team-Xecuter.

Over the years, Nintendo has been bent on taking down the various companies that deal with pirated Nintendo software. In recent years, the company has also been known for taking down fan projects also. In the latest case against piracy, Nintendo decided that the player should be allowed to make changes to the hardware and software but within the limits that the users actually pay for.

Nowadays, pirated games are easier to come by, and the surge in pirated games has made Nintendo put its foot down on this pressing matter. In all probability, Nintendo will continue with these lawsuits in the foreseeable future. Nintendo is hoping that there is going to be a rise in cases similar to the one between Nintendo and Uberchips, and the company is hoping that it will be successful in prosecuting the piracy empire.
