On August 27, Sony announced on its official YouTube page that the company will host a new product launch event on September 17. A few days ago, a famous tipster Evan Blass announced that Sony is set to launch its new product the Xperia 5 II.

In keeping with the leak, it looks like Sony will announce the next Xperia model on September 17.

The original Xperia 5 was announced at the IFA 2019, and since this year’s IFA is starting only next week on September 2, Sony might just announce the Mark II model from its long line of Xperia series.

Evan Blass/ evleaks had leaked an image of the upcoming Xperia model. Even though the design in the photo was eerily similar to that of the Xperia 1 II, there is some subtle difference in the design of the Xperia 5 II. Although Blass had not mentioned the display size, there was a rumor earlier this year that Sony is stepping down to a 5.6-5.8-inch display screen.

If that is the case, Xperia 5 II will be the smallest 5G smartphone as of yet. Like the Xperia 1 II, the upcoming Sony Xperia 5 II also comes with a three-camera setup. The camera lens on the back bears the “ZEISS” logo which means that the latest Xperia smartphone too would use ZEISS optical technology.

Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship processor making the Xperia 5 II Sony’s second model to feature Snapdragon 865. The smartphone will come equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. On the body of the smartphone itself, there is an extra button in addition to the shutter key on the right side of the phone. One more thing that the Xperia 5 II will feature is the 3.5 mm headphone jack which the original Xperia 5 did not feature.
