A few months ago a few Samsung smartphone users took to the Samsung Community forum to address a few issues they were facing regarding their smartphones. It was not a single complaint and the issue was not an isolated incident.

A few of the users have complained that the fingerprint sensor on their smartphones has stopped working and became unresponsive. The display screen displays the following message, “An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device.”

The solution as suggested by the message displayed on the screen, that of restarting, obviously did not work.

The developers at Samsung took notice of it, and offered, what could only be termed as a temporary solution. The developers have suggested to delete the existing fingerprint and reading it for both the normal mode and the safe mode.

This could have provided a solution, be it temporary if not a permanent one, to the problem. However, that was not the case as another user has complained of the same issue on 2nd June.

According to the user, he has been having problems with the fingerprint sensors for two months now. The power button is working just fine, but whenever the fingerprint button is used, the lock screen displays this message, “The fingerprint sensor is not responding. Try again later.”

The user has tried booting the device into safe mode but to no luck. Furthermore, according to the post made by the user, he has also tried to engage the built-in fingerprint on the phone app, but this too has failed to offer any solution.

The solution that was offered by the developers a couple of months back appeared to be of no use either. The user kept getting an error message after he removed his existing fingerprint and tried to add a new one.  Furthermore, there exists no fingerprint app in the settings where the user could maybe get any assistance.

Samsung developers are yet to take notice of this issue.
