LG has launched the new 27-inch UltraGear gaming monitor (model name: LG 27GN950). This is the world’s fastest 4K UHD Nano IPS 1ms (1/1,000th of a second) gaming monitor that comes with a scanning rate as high as 144 Hz (Hertz), which means, it displays 144 screens per second. It is the first 4K resolution IPS panel with a response time of 1ms.

As can be inferred from the name, the LG UltraGear 27GN950 comes with a 27-inch display with a 4K (3,840×2,160 pixels) nano IPS display that has a 144Hz refresh rate, 16:9 aspect ratio, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 1ms Gray-to-Gray (GTG) response time. The display of the new model covers 98 percent of the standard color gamut DCI-P3 of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI). The user gets 178-degree viewing angles and 10-bit color depth at full resolution.

The LG UltraGear gaming monitor presents graphics compatibility features like NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD Radeon FreeSync Premium Pro.

For connectivity, there are two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort, a USB downstream and an upstream port, and a headphone out port. The monitor is wall mountable and its stands allow tilt, height, and pivot adjustments. In the back panel, there is sphere lighting which can be customized. There are features like Dynamic Action Sync, Flicker Safe, Smart Energy Saving, and Black Stabilizer among others.

To minimize screen stuttering, it matches the graphics card signal of the external device with the scanning rate of the monitor screen. It also supports the Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology of the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). This technology can quickly transmit 144Hz high-scan content at 4K resolution with just one display port cable. It is also equipped with dynamic High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology and has been certified as VESA Display HDR 600.

The UltraGear 27GN950 gaming monitor by LG is priced at $799.99 (roughly Rs. 59,800) and is on sale in key markets of North America, Asia, Europe, and other regions.

The new monitor has been awarded the Product Design Award earlier this year at the Red Dot Design Awards, one of the world’s top three design awards.

Son Sang-hyun, Director of Marketing for LG Electronics Korea has said, “In order to take the gaming experience to a higher level, we will continue to strengthen the LG Ultragear lineup utilizing IPS 1ms display technology.”

With multiple gamer modes, stunning color, and crystal-clear picture quality, this new LG UltraGear 27GN950 is undoubtedly going to bring a new dimension into the gaming world.
