As far back as September 2020, the popular Japanese video game developer Nintendo revealed that it is planning to do more visual content projects after the Super Mario movie. The visual content, according to the firm, will be expanded over the next couple of years through different projects.

However, in a new development, the firm has reconfirmed plans to do multiple visual content projects. This was disclosed in a press release by Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s representative director fellow, after their 83rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, which included a question and answer secession.

The coming of multiple visual content projects

Therein, Shigeru Miyamoto provided some insights into Nintendo’s consumer outreach outside of video games, which he used to reaffirm the coming of the firm’s multiple visual content projects. The full statement read:

“Nintendo’s appeal is in its ability to provide spaces where the whole family can have fun. The fact that Nintendo characters and games are enjoyed across three generations by people all over the world is our strength, and it is really something special.
I sense that our initiatives with mobile applications and movie production have increased the number of people worldwide who are aware of our IP. With The Super Mario Bros. Movie, we’ve heard many people say they went with their families to the theater and had fun watching the movie together.
Regarding the theme park business, we would like to continue to work closely with Universal Destinations & Experiences. Stay tuned for announcements from them.
We intend to work on multiple visual content projects. Through these kinds of efforts, we hope to make our IP known to people of all generations all around the world and create a brand that families can enjoy with peace of mind. Thank you for your continued support going forward.”

Unfortunately, Shigeru didn’t reveal the time frame of the coming of Nintendo’s visual content projects. However, given Nintendo’s extensive library of characters, movies seem like the most plausible medium for this growth; nevertheless, the source indicated that movies aren’t Nintendo’s sole option for visual content.
