The new season of Pokemon GO kicks off as the new Season of Legends, which introduces a plethora of new legendary Pokemons to the main game and new activities. Although the new season begins this month, the players can expect One Star Raids, Three Star Raids, Five Star Raids, and Mega Raids.

For each of these raids, the players will be assigned bosses from a plethora of Pokemons. The Five Star raids are different from other raids as always.

Each raid must be completed within the set time limit. As for the Mega Raids, Niantic has promised that a special Pokemon will appear at the end of the month.

On the other hand, Niantic Labs has also made a series of changes to the XL Candies to make it more accessible to Pokemon Go trainers. To raise the trainer level from 40 to 50, Niantic developed the XL Candy, equivalent to 100 regular candies.

Recently in a Tweet, Niantic highlighted the Candy XL, indicating that the full set is now live. According to Niantic, trading a Pokemon “will have a chance of rewarding a Candy XL for the Pokémon you’ve traded.”

The developers have also increased the chance of discovering a Candy XL for the trainers. Every Pokemon captured under the “Legendary, Mythical, or evolved Pokemon” will be rewarded a Candy XL.

The new update also includes the Season of Legends Special Research Tasks in Pokemon Go. Usually, the Season of Legends takes place a few times a year, directly indicating an upcoming big event.

In this case, this Special Research is to celebrate the genies from the Unova region. Players can choose to complete additional tasks in Pokemon Go to help other players earn some extra items.

However, unlike Mega Raids, this one has no set time limit. Alternatively, there is also a Season of Legends Timed Research that the players can choose to complete to earn a few perks.

Notably, the legendary Pokemons that are to be found in the Season of Legends were extremely rare, and finding them was difficult for the players.

The Special Research is divided into 5 stages; each player must complete them. Here is a detailed description of the stages:

Stage 1: Catch 10 Rock-type Pokémon, Make 5 Great Throws, Transfer 10 Pokémon.

Stage 2: Catch 10 Ground-type Pokémon, Catch 5 Pokémon with Weather Boost, Take a snapshot of Landorus.

Stage 3: Catch 10 Flying-type Pokémon, Catch 5 Pokémon with Weather boost, Take a snapshot of Tornadus.

Stage 4: Catch 10 Electric-type Pokémon, Catch 5 Pokémon with Weather boost, Take a snapshot of Thundurus.

Stage 5: Claim Reward x3.

Out of all these challenges, a few players have mentioned, that the snapshot might be the most difficult of them all especially because this requires the player to capture all 3 genies.

Apart from introducing the new updates, Pokemon Go is reportedly also working on its very first Electric-type event next week. March 16 will witness Pokemon Go around the world at 10 am local time, and the event will last for six days, to finally be concluded on March 22.

The Charge Up event will be hosting a number of Electric-type Pokemon including Alolan Geodude, Voltorb, Electrike, Stunfisk, and Tynamo.

The players can also hatch Electric-type Pokemon from 5km Eggs such as Pichu, Elekid, Electrike, Shinx, Joltic, Tynamo, and Stunfisk. Voltorb, Shinx, Blitzle, Klink, and Tynamo will appear in one-star Raids during the Charge Up event. Alolan Raichu, Alolan Graveler, Magneton, and Ampharos will star in three-star Raids.

Therian Forme Thundurus will appear for the first time in five-star Raids. Mega-Evolved Manectric will be debuting in Mega Raids, along with the Mega Houndoom the Mega Abomasnow.
