Samsung has announced its new CRG5 gaming monitor at E3 2019, it’s first to ship with compatibility for Nvidia G-Sync via the latest graphics card software. Samsung’s CRG5 isn’t the first 240Hz 1080p monitor, the first G-Sync-compatible model or the first 27-inch curved, but it might be the first with all of those, with a VA panel instead of TN to boot. Unlike many other fast gaming displays, the Samsung CRG5 sports a VA panel, which allows it to boast a 3,000:1 contrast ratio. Combined with the 1500R curvature of the display, you don’t have to substitute immersion for a high frame rate.

Sitting in front of the curved VA panel, running that fast action game at 240Hz is an appealing experience. The high 240Hz refresh rate delivers smoother gameplay – it did when I tried it – plus broader latitude for synchronizing with your frame rates and thus avoid artifacts like tearing.

CRG5’s minimal bezel design offers near edge-to-edge screen on three sides and a sturdy, ergonomic stand to help gamers stay comfortably immersed in the gameplay. Gamers can also select pre-set display options for any genre of game with an on-screen digital menu. For more advanced customization, users can create up to three separate display profiles to easily switch between.

The Samsung CRG5 will be out in July for $399 running at 240Hz with G-Sync compatibility.
